Our Story
Patterson Ranch Beef began the way many good things do — not as a business plan, but as a way of life rooted in family, animals, and community.
Dennis and Mary Patterson’s journey started years ago in Sonoma County, where they were deeply involved in the local horse and cattle community. Along with their son Travis, they spent countless hours riding, working cattle, and competing in team penning, sorting, and roping events. Their home became a place where friends regularly brought their animals to be cared for — horses, dogs, and livestock alike.
Over time, a running joke began to take hold. Animals were treated so well at the Patterson’s place that they didn’t want to leave — much like kids returning from summer camp, wishing they could stay just a little longer. Friends began calling it “Camp Patterson,” and the name Camp Patterson Ranch — CPR Ranch — was born.
As Sonoma County grew busier, Dennis and Mary sought a place where they could put down deeper roots. They found it in Anderson, California — over 160 acres with views of Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta. When they arrived, the land was raw pasture and open space. Over the next two decades, they carefully built the ranch into what it is today.
Today, CPR Ranch is a shared family effort. Travis and his wife Stephanie have moved their family onto the ranch and work alongside Dennis and Mary in the daily care of the land and livestock. Together with their daughters, they continue the tradition of stewardship, responsibility, and respect that the ranch was built on.
Patterson Ranch Beef is not about one generation replacing another — it’s about generations working together to provide wholesome, high-quality beef for families who value knowing where their food comes from.
